Michael Workman is a senior finance executive with an extensive background in investment banking, asset management, and corporate finance.  His career as a professional in global financial markets has spanned almost 30 years.  Michael is bilingual (Russian), lived across Europe and worked extensively with corporates and institutional investors from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Michael currently is a founding principal of DG19 Investment Management, a boutique asset management firm focused on emerging and frontier markets.  He also advises family offices, institutional investors, and sovereign wealth funds regarding cross-border investments.   Michael is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Notre Dame, co-teaching the course “Emerging Markets Investing” at the London campus.

Prior to this, Michael was an executive in the securities division of Goldman Sachs in Europe where he managed proprietary investments for the firm across Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EEMEA). Earlier, Michael was a senior trader at UBS and Head of EEMEA special situations and distressed credit trading.  In this role, he completed complex debt restructurings for corporate and government borrowers.

During his multi-decade career, Michael held senior positions at financial institutions specializing in emerging markets including Renaissance Capital, Otkritie Financial Group and National Bank Trust.  In these roles, Michael managed multi-billion-dollar trading desks, distribution teams, and capital markets activities.  Michael began his career in ABN AMRO Bank’s North American head office in Chicago having completed the bank’s Credit Training Program at LaSalle National Bank, before moving to ABN AMRO’s investment banking group in Europe.

Throughout his career, Michael has regularly been cited by major financial print and television media, as well as been a featured speaker at investment forums sponsored by global banks and investment groups.  Additionally, he is an experienced investor in media related businesses, venture capital and fin-tech start-ups.
