Venture Fundamentals Workshop

The Venture Fundamentals workshop takes place in the evenings and combines traditional-style lectures with case studies. Though students can expect some outside work in order to get the most out of the experience, the workshop itself will meet only seven times throughout the semester. The workshop culminates in a chance to show off new skills in a competition setting. Students will compete first in an internal competition at Notre Dame, after which a team of standout participants will be selected to compete in the regional round of the Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC). In 2017, NDIGI’s team advanced through regionals and ultimately took home first place at nationals. In 2018, NDIGI's team also advanced through regionals and represented Notre Dame at nationals.

Offered in the fall semester in partnership with the Unleashed Social Ventures Club, Venture Fundamentals serves as excellent preparation for future careers in the innovative venture capital industry. It is the perfect workshop for those who have watched Shark Tank and wondered what it would be like to be the sharks. Additionally, the experience serves as a pathway for future participation in investment competitions at Notre Dame and beyond by providing exposure to investment professionals and actual early-stage venture capital deals. After a selective application process, 20 students will be chosen to take part in the workshop and will work throughout the semester to develop the skills necessary for the venture capital industry. Past students have noted that the workshop “fundamentally changed” their career path.
