DeShay McCluskey co-founded AltraVue Capital in 2016 and leads the global investment strategy and management of AltraVue’s investment products. Her 20 years of investment experience includes public and private investing. Prior to founding AltraVue, DeShay was a Portfolio Manager and Principal at GW Capital Inc., where she served as a member of its investment committee, managing the equity and fixed income portfolios. Before joining GW Capital in 2012, DeShay was Vice President and Director of Research at BDT Capital Partners where she helped to launch and manage BDT’s public investment portfolio. At BDT Capital, DeShay also served on deal teams, in various capacities, to source and evaluate private investment opportunities for the fund.
DeShay’s investment career began as an Equity Analyst at Ariel Investments in 2001. She detoured into investment banking, spending two summers at Goldman Sachs before returning to asset management as an Equity Analyst at Legg Mason Capital Management in 2006. DeShay’s first foray into launching an investment firm was in 2007 when she co-founded Jacobi Capital Management, a registered investment adviser based in Pennsylvania, for which she was a Portfolio Manager.
DeShay earned her M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2006 and her B.A. in Economics with Honors from the University of Chicago in 2001. She serves on the board and is a Trustee of the Open Window School in Bellevue, Washington.
