NDIGI Hosts Robert K. Wilmouth Speaker Series

The Notre Dame Institute for Global Investing has established the Robert K. Wilmouth Speaker Series, a sequence of investing lectures to be held throughout the semester. Each event will be led by an investing professional from a certain area of the field, and will serve to educate students on the the industry and its future while providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a variety of investment careers.

The series is named in honor of the late Robert “Bob” Wilmouth, former chair of the Notre Dame Investment Committee and University trustee.

“Through the Wilmouth Lecture Series, our students will be better prepared to meet the demands of tomorrow,” said Kevin Burke, Managing Director of NDIGI. “With the generous support of friends like Bob Wilmouth, we are fostering highly skilled, ethical leaders so that the investment management industry will evolve for the better.”

The lectures will take place on select Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 PM in Mendoza’s Jordan Auditorium. The events are free and open to all interested in the future of investing.

The schedule is as follows:

January 30: “What Might the Future of Active Management Look Like?” with Matt Zenz, Portfolio Manager at Dimensional Fund Advisors. Zenz is responsible for portfolio oversight and execution, and manages $20 billion in equity securities.

February 6: “A Look into Private Equity” with Jimmy Flaherty, Principal at BDT & Company. Jimmy Flaherty has worked for BDT since 2015, managing client relationships for the Chicago merchant bank.

February 13: “Venture Capital Secrets and How to Evaluate Startup Ideas” with Jackson Jhin, Analyst at Chicago Ventures. Jhin evaluates potential investments for Chicago Ventures while also aiding current portfolio companies.

February 20: “Let’s Talk about Impact Investing” with Priya Parish, Chief Investment Officer at Schwartz Capital. Parish manages private and public investments for Schwartz Capital and serves as an impact investor at the University of Chicago Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation.

February 27: “Introduction to Credit Investing” with Brad Couri, Managing Principal at CFI Partners. Couri co-founded CFIP in 2005 and serves on the Investment Committee of the firm.

April 10: “An Introduction to Growth Equity” with David George, Principal at General Atlantic. George specializes in internet and technology investments for the San Francisco firm.

April 17: “How and Why we use Equity Derivatives” with SJ Zaremba, Director of Sales & Marketing at Ross, Jeffrey & Antle, and Mengru Zhang, Vice President at Ross, Jeffrey & Antle. Zaremba has over 25 years of first hand experience in equity derivatives markets. Zhang leads the financial modeling and portfolio management teams at the firm.
