Application Deadline: International Portfolio Management

The Notre Dame Institute for Global Investing is excited to announce another unique experiential learning opportunity this spring.  In this highly selective one-credit practicum course, we will travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for a complete academic immersion. The class will provide students the opportunity to engage intellectually, creatively and socially with a leading investment management firm in one of the world’s most dynamic cities. We will plan on leaving campus on Friday, March 9th, returning on Saturday, March 17th.   The class size will be limited to 10-15 students and applicationsfor this course are being accepted now until October 25th at midnight.  Please click here for the application.

Course Description:

 

FIN 35520 INTERNATIONAL PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT PRACTICUM - JUNIORS ONLY

 

This one-credit course, which is offered during spring break, will offer a select  group of students an intensive week of real-world interaction and case study with a leading Brazilian based investment management firm. The investment manager will meet with the students at the beginning of the week to outline the case. During the week, students will attend additional lectures and work in teams to analyze the case, which will be presented to the investment manager at the end of the week. The learning objectives of the course include gaining a real-world perspective on investment management, understanding investing from an emerging market vantage point, and contributing investment solutions in a collaborative setting. Please note, that as part of this course, students will travel with faculty coordinators to and from a Rio de Janeiro as a group. The Institute for Global Investing will absorb the great majority of the costs associated with the travel and the class.
