Gaining a Deeper Understanding of the Financial Industry

As an underclassman at Notre Dame, you are assured that you have ample time to choose your major and career. However by sophomore year, with the major declaration deadline approaching and classmates already securing summer internships, I realized my wealth of time was quickly diminishing, yet I remained unsure about what was right for me. The NDIGI Speaker Series helped me explore the financial industry and ultimately select the major confidently. While I was memorizing formulas and definitions in Finance 20150, the Institute’s presenters provided me with the practical, applicable insights I needed to better comprehend the field and my options within it. Terms like “asset management” and “private equity” no longer caused confusion but instead elicited curiosity and excitement because I was fortunate enough to learn about these concepts from some of the most successful people in the industry. The exposure and education the Institute offer are truly unparalleled.

Building a Strong Professional Network

NDIGI also encompasses a wide range of intelligent, dedicated and generous people who have taught, inspired, advised and mentored me throughout my time at Notre Dame. The Institute’s amazing community has allowed to form relationships with successful industry leaders who provide unique insights and guidance, talk with recent graduates who willingly give of their time to assist younger students during the stressful recruiting process and connect with fellow classmates who are experiencing challenges and triumphs similar to my own. As I finish at Notre Dame and begin to build a career, I am confident that the people I have met as a part of the Institute will continue to help and encourage me along the way, as I hope to be able to do the same for them and other NDIGI students in the future.
