Growing up as the son of two physicians, I knew more about the medical industry than the financial services industry when arriving at Notre Dame. Through extensive engagement in a financial literacy initiative called MoneythinkND, I found a budding passion in the financial services industry. With help from mentors and faculty, I grew my knowledge of the industry and formed a goal of becoming a well-rounded investor. This process was driven primarily by my involvement in a number of Notre Dame Institute for Global Investing courses including International Portfolio Management Practicum taught in London, Applied Private Equity Projects, and Venture Fundamentals.

Experiential Learning

Before my first International Portfolio Management Practicum class, I knew the value of a real-world experiences. But after traveling abroad, my expectations were exceeded to say the least. The energy during the experience was addictive. Waking up in London and being surrounded by some of the best financial minds in the world makes you want to learn and perform your best. I was surprised to find that upon returning to the U.S., that same quest for knowledge had not dissipated. After London I am always looking for more information now. Frankly, I just love learning. It is crazy to think about, but now I can spend hours at a time researching investment opportunities, and it seems like five minutes have gone by. Without NDIGI, I doubt my drive for learning would be so strong.

Service to Others

Mentorship has played a key role in my Notre Dame experience thus far. I feel so blessed to be at Notre Dame where the faculty, guest speakers, and students alike are all focused on helping others. For example, I cannot tell you the amount of times NDIGI leaders have helped guide my path or the amount of information I have learned by listening to his lectures. His passion for investing is palpable every time he steps in the room, and his students cannot avoid getting sprinkled with a few drops of that passion themselves. I hope someday to be able to share my passion with others in the way NDIGI leaders do every day.
